Half a Pound of Art

Earlier this year I was thrilled to be included in the “Half a Pound of Art” exhibition at Stephan Stumpf’s very cool gallery in Munich. I had visited several of his exhibitions before and always really connected with his curatorial aesthetic. In many ways, it feels right up my alley — beautiful, but also slightly creepy and unsettling.

The opening night for Half a Pound of Art was packed, and even some of my collage students came along to support me and see the exhibition which was really sweet. It was wonderful to see so many people at the opening but I was also grateful to have an opportunity to return with a friend on another day and really have time to engage with the artworks.

Stephan Stumpf is also a wonderful gallerist to work with. He follows up with his artists, takes a real interest in their practice, and actively creates opportunities to further promote their work. He’s very active on Instagram, regularly sharing videos discussing the artworks in the gallery and interviewing artists in their studios.

I’m planning to meet with him later this month in my own Munich studio to show him whats been cooking!

Stephan Stumpf also has another group exhibition opening tonight called “Mishmash”, running from 7–10 pm. Might see you there!
