The Australian Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines for Cattle are open for public consultation until 6th May. This is your chance to make your voice heard! Currently violent “surgical”procedures such as castration are allowed without anaesthesia and workers are allowed to kick and otherwise abuse cattle. furthermore there is no requirement for food, water, shade and shelter daily. Why does Australia have to be so far behind Europe in its animal “welfare” standards? Mahatma Gandhi once said that, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way in which its animals are treated.”
Lets show the world we are intelligent and compassionate enough to acknowledge animal sentience and take steps to reduce suffering.
