Elephant in the Room

Claude Jones, “Corpus coop”, 2013, 65 x 25 x 15 cm, ceramic, cane, henequen, glass.

I will be exhibiting a selection of my ceramic sculptures in an upcoming group exhibition called “The Elephant in the Room” at Brenda May Gallery in Sydney. This is an animal-themed exhibition featuring work in a variety of mediums and incorporating some fabulous artists. I am thrilled to be included in the line up, plus a percentage of the sales will go to support the Animal Welfare League who do great work caring for and finding homes for abandoned and unwanted cats and dogs.

Artists included in the exhibition are: Sybil Curtis, Amanda Davies, Todd Fuller, Claude Jones, Irianna Kanellopoulou, Waratah Lahy, Helen Mueller, Mylyn Nguyen, Uracha Oliver, Janet Parker-Smith, Patsy Payne, Hanna Tai and Nicole Welch.

To find out more about the exhibition click on teh following link: http://www.brendamaygallery.com.au/details.php?exhibitionID=236

Unfortunately for me this exhibition opens on the same night as my solo exhibition, “Broken”, at Artereal Gallery on Wednesday November 5th. I will head to Brenda May Gallery earlier in the day then onto my solo exhibition opening night drinks at 6pm. More info about my solo coming soon.

“The Elephant in the Room” will be my second charity fundraising exhibition for Animal Welfare league. I  participated in a fundraising exhibition for the Animal Welfare league at DNA gallery in Sydney last year in which the University of Wollongong purchased 2 of my works for their collection. The exhibition, “Animal Insights”,  was put together by ACE (aka Anthony Bourke) –of “Christian the lion” fame. You can follow ACE on his blog in which he discusses  animal issues around the globe. http://acebourke.wordpress.com.

If you haven’t heard of Christian the Lion, then you should check out the video or read about him. Its a wonderful and heartwarming story. http://www.alioncalledchristian.com.au
