I am excited to announce that my solo exhibition,”Broken”, opens on Wednesday 5th November at Artereal Gallery. The exhibit will feature new ceramic sculptures and a selection of recent mixed media works on paper. All these works are a continuation of my favourite theme – examining our contradictory relationship with animals, but particularly focusing on the deceptive messages that children receive. Most children grow up within a culture that condones the entrapment, torture and killing of the very same animals they adore. Somehow they learn to reconcile this but how?
“Broken” opens on Wednesday the 5th of November. In addition to the opening night festivities on Wednesday , I will be delivering an informal artist talk in the gallery at 3pm on Saturday the 8th November and all are welcome to come along, listen and bring any questions.
Also opening on the 5th November at Artereal is a solo exhibition by artist Nola Diamantopoulos, in the adjacent room. Nola works in a range of mediums and her dynamic studio practice and recent wonderful performance “Quest”, is documented in this fascinating video released by Artereal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pe1L7BOvVSE.
So 2 exhibitions opening on the same night at Artereal -Wednesday 5th November from 6pm. Lock in the date.
In the meantime here is a snapshot of works in the glaze room..just before they went into the kiln for a 2nd firing.
More images and official invite to come..
